Our Story.

Meet Sea Gals, your new go-to.

How we started: Founder Tara went for her first sunrise dip by herself and shared the experience to her TikTok, which gained a lot of love and curiosity. Women from all around Perth and the world were commenting how they wish they could do the same, but felt they couldn’t. The common reasons these women felt they couldn’t go for a sunrise dip were put down to body image issues, wishing they had friends to dip with, or overall lacking in confidence. Tara decided to invite these women to the beach that next week at Mullaloo Beach in Perth WA, hoping these women would unlock their self-confidence and realise they can too, go for a sunrise dip. And that’s exactly what happened.

With the first dip starting at 5 attendees, Tara continued posting videos to her TikTok page to encourage others, resulting in a rapid growth to 100 attendees within the month. With now up to 300 attendees at dips 3 years later, Tara and the Sea Gals Team aim to show women they can be free in their bodies and connect with themselves, others and nature.

What we’re about: We encourage women who attend our sunrise dips by themselves or with their friends to strip back those societal beauty standards we are told we should abide by, especially when it comes to our bodies at the beach. Our goal is not to pressure women to wear bikinis - our goal is to hold a safe space for women to find their empowerment to wear whatever they want to the beach.

Our dips centre around acknowledging the strength it takes to wake up early and put yourself first, chatting to others around you, and letting go of the negative thoughts surrounding our bodies as we run into the water together.

  • Sea Gals is not about comparing one’s body to another. Sea Gals is about acknowledging the women around you will all have different body sizes and shapes and that no one sees your own insecurities. Be inspired by the confidence in others, and be inspired by yourself gal.

  • Attending Sea Gals events by yourself is highly encouraged. Leave with a friend, a new connection, or find your flock. There is no pressure to make a friend, but we always include a little prompt at our events to get chatting to the gals around you if the hesitation is there!

  • Acne? Bumps? Scars? Dirty hair? Forgot to shave? (if you usually do).

    Guess what?

It doesn’t matter. This community is built on the fact that at Sea Gals we support each other. This means we come into the space without judgement.
